Farm Show Update
We had a very successful time at the Ottawa Valley Farm Show. We were delighted to see so many of you there and thank everyone who brought displays to create an impressive showcase in the Antiques Room. We received lots of positive feedback from members and visitors. If you didn’t attend, you can see many of the displays on our Vintage Iron Facebook page Facebook . (We haven’t updated our Vintage Iron website yet, but that is on our radar for the near future.)
We sold all 100 of our Ford 8N 9th Edition Collector Tractors, thank you to everyone who purchased one! Our member David Brown brought a real Ford 8N to display at the show, and it was a wonderful welcome to visitors as they entered the Antique Room. Thank you David!
The 5th Annual Toy Auction at the Ottawa Valley Farm Show was a great success. We had 113 toys which were either fully donated or consigned. As always, the auction was a fun and exciting time for our registered bidders and audience. We thank the many members and contributors of the toys, all the helpers, James Auction Services Ltd. for the donation of their auctioneering services, and everyone who supported the event. In conjunction with Wyatt McWilliams and Farmers Feed Families, we will be able to provide at least a dozen substantial food baskets to families in need in the months ahead.
Wayne and Kathy Fraser have reported 144 paid memberships. There are 35 members from last year, that have not yet paid for this year. All members were mailed renewal forms early in the year. We remind you that to participate in our events, you must be a current member. Please phone Wayne at 613-791-3291 to renew or return your renewal form in the mail. New members are always welcome, so if you have family or friends who would enjoy joining us at these events, please ask them to visit our website Join-Us – Vintage Iron and Traditions of Eastern Ontario for membership details, or to phone Wayne.
We are pleased to present you with some of the club’s coming events:
Spring Tour
Date: Sunday, April 14, 2024
First Location: Our host is Oakley Clow, 2542 White Church Road, Joyceville ON
Time: 10:30 am
Oakley worked for John Deere for 59 years, and he had a John Deere dealership (has since sold it). We will be visiting one of his old stores which is divided into different rooms for various displays, including the first John Deere Gator and the first 110 ever made. He has a whole kitchen display, some scales, as well as over 900 toys for us to view.
Second Location: Our host is Bert Houston, 3132 VanOrder Road, Elginburg, ON (40 km/36 min away)
Time: 1:00 pm
Bert has a large collection for us to view. He has 21 Nascar cars, Corvettes, a man-cave to die for, and has four buildings similar in size to George Tackaberry’s, full of high-end collectibles for us to view.
Bert’s daughter has a restaurant on the site, and a sandwich lunch will be available to us, which will keep our group together rather than everyone heading to different restaurants. For this reason, we require an RSVP for lunch by Tuesday, April 9th, so that she can prepare accordingly.
RSVP to Wayne Fraser by phone 613-791-3291 or email wayne@fraserelectric.ca or to Sylvia Payne by phone 613-989-5699 or email sylvia66@xplornet.com,
Recognizing that Joyceville and Kingston are quite a distance away, we strongly encourage you to reach out to other members in your area to carpool. Please let one of our directors know if you need a ride, and we will try to assist you in finding a travel companion.
